  • NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS The City of Union will receive sealed bid proposals for WEST MARTINDALE ROAD WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT PHASE 2 until Tuesday March 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. local time at the City Manager’s Office, 118 N. Main Street, Union, Ohio, at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read aloud. The project consists of installing approximately 1616 feet of 8” water main and appurtenances, 25 1” water services and pavement restoration. Copies of the Specifications and Contract Documents, as prepared by Griffiths-Vanden Bosch & Associates, Inc., Civil Engineers, are on file at the City Building, 118 North Main Street, Union, Ohio, 45322, where they may be obtained upon payment of Thirty Dollars ($30.00), none of which will be refunded. Proposals will only be accepted from bidders who have purchased Contract Documents from the City. Each proposal shall be signed by the full name and business address of each person or company interested in the same; shall be accompanied by a security bond for the full amount of the bid from a surety company authorized to do business in the State of Ohio, or by a certified check on some solvent bank in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount of the submitted proposal, the surety bond or certified check being payable to the City of Union, Ohio as a guarantee that if the proposal is accepted, a contract will be entered into and its performance properly secured by a satisfactory bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. The proposals must be made on the forms provided therefore in the Contract Documents, or a copy thereof, with a price quoted for each item of work, the price of labor and materials separately stated. All contractors and subcontractors involved with the project will, to the extent practicable use Ohio products, materials, services, and labor in the implementation of their project. Additionally, contractor compliance with equal employment opportunity requirements of the Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, the Governor’s Executive Order of 1972, and Governor’s Executive Order 84-9 shall be required. “DOMESTIC STEEL USE REQUIREMENTS AS SPECIFIED IN SECTION 153.011 OF THE REVISED CODE APPLY TO THIS PROJECT. COPIES OF SECTION 153.011 OF THE REVISED CODE CAN BE OBTAINED FROM ANY OF THE OFFICES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES.” Bidders must comply with the prevailing wage rates on Public Improvements in Montgomery County and City of Union, Ohio as determined by the Ohio Department of Commerce, Wage and Hour Bureau. The City Council reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals; to waive any and all informalities or irregularities in the bids received or to accept any proposal which is deemed most favorable to the City of Union.
