- NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
Sealed bids will be received in the Purchasing Department, Ninth Floor, County Administration Building, 451 West Third Street, P.O. Box 972, Dayton, Ohio 45422-1260, until 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, MAY 2, 2012, for the GUARDRAIL SAFETY UPGRADE PROJECT, COUNTY WIDE, JOB #2009-CA-010. Said bids will be opened as soon thereafter as the opening can begin in the Purchasing Department, 9th Floor, County Administration Building. Performance of all work incident thereto in accordance with the plans and specifications.
Pursuant to Section 153.54, et seq. of the Ohio Revised Code, the Bidder shall submit a BID GUARANTY in the form of either:
a) A bond for the full amount of the bid, conditioned that if the bid is accepted, the bidder after the awarding or the recommendation for awarding the contract, will enter into a proper contract based upon bid: or (FAXED COPIES ARE UNACCEPTABLE).
b) A certified check, cashier's check, or letter of credit pursuant to Chapter 1305, Ohio Revised Code, in the amount of TEN PERCENT (10%) of the bid. If a TEN PERCENT (10%) GUARANTY is submitted, provided that if the bid is accepted, the bidder will, after the awarding or recommendation for awarding the contract, enter into a proper contract, and indemnify the County against all damage suffered by failure to perform the contract by supplying a performance bond in accordance with section 153.54(2), et seq. of the Ohio Revised Code for FULL AMOUNT OF THE CONTRACT. (FAXED COPIES ARE UNACCEPTABLE).
Only those contractors which are currently pre-qualified in the proper work type(s) by the Ohio Department of Transportation will be eligible to submit bids for the construction of this project. A bidder must possess work types equal to at least 50% of the total amount of the submitted bid price.

Proposal blanks, plans and specifications are on file and may be secured from the Office of County Engineer, (8th Floor, Montgomery County Administration Building, Government Plaza, 451 West Third Street, P.O. Box 972, Dayton, Ohio 45422-1260) IN PERSON from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. during work days for a NON-REFUNDABLE FEE OF $35.00 PER SET OR $5.00 PER COMPACT DISK. Payment shall be made preferably by company check payable to MONTGOMERY COUNTY ENGINEER. Said bids shall be on a Unit Price Basis and shall be in writing on Proposal Blanks furnished by the County Engineer.
Domestic steel use requirements as specified in Section 153.011 of the Revised Code apply to this project. Copies of Section 153.011 of the Revised Code can be obtained from any of the offices of the Department of Administrative Services.
OHIO PRODUCTS: The Contractor and all subcontractors are encouraged to use Ohio products, materials, services and labor in connection with this project.
