The Tim and Kathleen Keenan Family Foundation will donate $17 million to The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business to establish the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship.
The Keenan family has been devoted to the development of an ecosystem for entrepreneurs, starting with the New York region and are now turning its attention to the Midwest.
"We are excited to partner with The Ohio State University and Fisher College of Business to position the university as a thought leader and focal point of action for the Midwest and the nation as a whole," Tim Keenan said in a statement. "We are confident that the talented students of Ohio State, combined with the faculty and staff, will position the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship as an impact leader across all industries, and that it will be a driving contributor to job creation in Ohio and the nation."
The Keenan family started its foundation in 2012. Tim Keenan serves as vice president and treasurer of the foundation and chief executive officer of Keenan & Associates, which provides strategic planning and development with small to mid-sized organizations.
A member of the Fisher College's Dean's Advisory Council and a university alumnus, Keenan is an adviser for The Ohio State Office of Research to advance the Ohio Technology Consortium.
"The Tim and Kathleen Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship is a remarkable resource for our students as well as Ohio's rapidly growing start-up ecosystem," stated Ohio State President Michael Drake. "Their inspiring gift honors Buckeye Nation's proud entrepreneurial legacy, while laying the educational foundation for tomorrow's business leaders. I am truly grateful to Tim and Kathleen for their long-standing service and generosity to Ohio State."
The commitment is one of the largest in Fisher College's history. The center's establishment will require approval from Ohio State's board of trustees.
