$1.3 million in Federal funds flow to Midwest states to help endangered species
Secretary Kempthorne Announces $68 Million in Nationwide Grants to Support Land Acquisition and Conservation Planning for Endangered Species
Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne last week announced nearly $1.3 million will go to Indiana, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin for endangered species planning and conservation efforts to help Karner blue butterflies, Indiana bats, pallid sturgeon and freshwater mussels. The funds, awarded through the Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund, are part of more than $68 million in grants to 21 states and one territory to support conservation planning and acquisition of vital habitat for threatened and endangered species across the nation.
